EU Condemns West Bank Violence by Zionists
A spokesperson for the EU highlighted that since February 28, six Palestinians have been killed in assaults carried out by extremist Israeli settlers.
The statement added that the violence has severely impacted multiple communities, damaging property, destroying livelihoods, and displacing residents, leaving many without shelter.
The EU stressed the need for Israeli authorities to implement “immediate and effective action” to halt additional attacks and ensure those responsible are held accountable. “Impunity for such acts risks provoking further violence,” the spokesperson said.
Furthermore, the bloc urged Israel to fulfill its obligations under international law to safeguard the Palestinian population in the occupied territories.
Reports indicate that tensions in the West Bank have intensified since the outbreak of the Gaza conflict on October 8, 2023, with Israeli forces and unauthorized settlers conducting operations that involve killings, arrests, property destruction, home demolitions, displacement, and settlement expansion.
These hostilities have resulted in at least 1,121 Palestinian deaths, 11,700 injuries, and the detention of nearly 22,000 individuals.
